New Hampshire State Library - Renovations - Concord, NH - *Pictures
Completion Date: August 31, 2009
Cost: $757,500
Architect: Randall T. Mudge & Associates
Description: Originally built in 1895, the State Library of New Hampshire is undergoing a series of significant renovations. We have been hired to refurbish and restore several floors of this historical building, updating traditional elements while preserving the architectural integrity of the oldest institution of its kind in America. Part of a large complex of buildings, the library sits nestled at the heart of New Hampshire’s central government.
Among the work being performed, we will demolish and remove existing windows and related trim, damaged plaster, and other materials within the deteriorated area: this will include plywood infill in original openings, rubber membrane roof and insulation, asphalt shingles, flashing, snow edge flashing, and ACT ceiling panel and grid. The original windows will be restored to operable condition and the top sash will be secured by a new wood stop. We will replace broken or missing hardware, add new weather stripping and new screens, and new solar films will be applied to original windows in rooms that function as offices or contain books or other materials susceptible to UV damage. New aluminum louvers will be added in certain locations as well as aluminum-clad replacement windows and screens.
Aged plaster will be repaired and refinished. New lighting fixtures will be added to the existing office. Current roofing will receive new insulation, membrane system, and flashing. And lastly, new asphalt shingles, flashing will be added to the existing crown over skylights.
